Workshop Description
Guided with demonstrations and slides we will look at techniques for composition, contrast, and colour. The basis of the workshop will be the exercises. Students will be encouraged to work fearlessly, treating each work as an experiment that is not too precious.
Workshop Outline
Week 1 -
Choice of subject and composition.
Week 2 -
Colour and contrast.
Week 3 -
We’ll take a closer look at composition, contrast, colour, and also correction.
Workshop Materials List
Artist quality oil paints in the following colours;
Titanium White
Cadmium Yellow Lemon
Cadmium Red
Cobalt Blue
A quick drying medium
Cleaning solvent
Palette – white if possible
Palette knife
Painters masking tape
Standing, or desk easel with a board base for your painting surface.
Pencils, sharpeners and erasers
A sketch pad
Brushes
Small ( No O)
Medium flat ( No 4)
Large flat ( No12)
Small round brush
Large round brush
Painting surfaces;
A5 or A4 Canvas paper, or other paper suitable for oil paint. At least 12 sheets.
Rags, Apron, drop-sheets, gloves etc for keeping yourself and your space clean.
