Course Description
In this intensive course we will understand the fundamental elements of post-figurative drawing, how to design a figure in that genre, describe motion and learn to work from imagination. The course will focus on drawing people and their expression in the everyday context.
Course Outline
Week 1 -
Comparing figurative and post-figurative worlds, discussing the differences in expressive power and purpose, doing basics figures – standing and sitting.
Week 2 -
Drawing a sitting to standing transition, focusing on motion, expression, realistic elements, recognition of motion and expressive signature. Adding color as the extension of the linework.
Week 3 -
Drawing a running to falling transition, adding expressive maneuvres to the storyline, defining facial expression.
Week 4 -
Drawing figures only with soft pastels refraining from using charcoal, creating deprh without using black. Balancing abstract and realistic portions of the composition.
Week 5 -
Drawing a one piece in which all 4 figures in different poses are combined united by an interior, linework, composition and balance of figurative and post-figurative elements.

Willow charcoal sticks, medium or thin
90-120 gr sketching toned paper (ivory, gray, rose)
Soft pastels (red, grey, black, white)
Hard eraser
Tissue for smearing
