Intuitive Abstract Painting With Alcohol Ink (Demo Recording) Spring 2025 w/ Nina Yocom

Demo Description

I will introduce you to the multifaceted medium of alcohol inks. We will walk through the intuitive process of creating work on different substrates using a variety of tools, all the way through the final act of finishing your work for longevity.

We will begin by working on a 6” x 6” ceramic tile focusing on the intuitive nature of inks and the fine balance between controlling the inks using a variety of tools and allowing the painting to process.

We will apply inks to a number of different substrates including a variety of different synthetic papers.

We will incorporate other materials in combination with alcohol ink including layering with acrylic paint and fine liner pen detailing.

We will conclude with a thorough review of how to finish your work with a focus on colorfastness and longevity.

Alcohol Inks: Tim Holtz Ranger, Jacquard Pinata, Copic Marker Refills (many

inks come in sets or groups of colors)

Synthetic Paper: * Yupo, Nara, EVO, Grafix Craft Plastic, Grafix Dura-Lar

Ceramic Tiles

91% Isopropyl Alcohol

Foam Brushes

Paint Brushes

Tim Holtz Ranger Alcohol Ink Blower

Pipette Droppers

Well Paint Palette

Inkssentials Mini Mister

Low Flow Hair Dryer
