DEMO:
Workshop Description
This workshop is primarily a painting workshop, focusing on animal studies (portraits or full-length) using the alla prima technique with oil paints. The idea is to demonstrate a painting process suited to this subject, while capturing the character, texture, and personality of our subjects. This workshop will include explanations on how to approach these subjects correctly, with painting demonstrations, as well as feedback on the paintings produced by the students between the sessions.
Workshop Outline
Week 1: Explanation of my process, my materials, my painting style, demonstration on an entire animal, then a little time for questions.
Week 2: Explanation of the particularities of animals as subjects for painting, demonstration on a portrait of a dog or cat, and feedback on students' paintings if they wish.
Week 3: Explanation of how to revisit a painting to improve it with a second pass. Continuation of feedback/questions (depending on the number of students).
Workshop Materials
Materials I use:
Oil paint (different brands)
Wooden panels primed with gesso
Brushes (Rosemary Ivory serie)
Mineral spirit (Gamsol)
Medium (Galkyde gel)
Paper towel
Glass palette
For their own works, students may use any type of oil paints/brushes/supports.
