Block Printmaking (Online Workshop) Summer 2026 w/ Julie Nye
April 11 to April 25 (Saturdays), 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Eastern Time
**All sessions are live and will be recorded, students do not have to be present. All recordings will be available to students for 3 months after the final session, after 3 months the recording will be deleted.

Workshop Description
During this workshop we will be learning how to make custom postcards using relief printmaking. By the end of the workshop Julie wants everyone to understand the different steps to printmaking. We will be walking together from first sketch to final prints that can be used for future projects and more. The goal for Julie is to share the amazing art of printmaking and some of its history, encourage artists, and to have everyone leave the workshop with their handmade works of art.

Show sketching/drawing
Transfer
Homework: I would like to see everyone with finished sketching that are transferred to their lino blocks
Week 2
Welcome to class and group critique
Using positive conversation to talk about each other's work
Carving powerpoint
Carving tools
Styles of carving
Tips and safety
Live demo
Showing how to carve
Answering questions as we go along
Talk about the tips and safety that was discussed in the powerpoint
Homework: I would like to see everyone have a carved block
Week 3
