Intro to Crochet: Making a Market Bag (Online Workshop) Summer 2026 w/ Katie Wright

**All sessions are live and will be recorded, students do not have to be present. All recordings will be available to students for 3 months after the final session, after 3 months the recording will be deleted.

Workshop Description
Crochet doesn’t need to be intimidating and can easily become your next artistic hobby. Come learn the art of crochet while making a handcrafted market bag. During this workshop, you will learn step-by-step how to create a crochet tote to help with your next grocery run, library trip, or vacation.
Workshop Outline
Week 1:
We will go over the anatomy of a crochet project and how to read a pattern. We will learn how to begin crocheting and the basic stitches needed for the base of your market tote.
Week 2:
We will learn a new stitch for the next part of the project and begin the body of the project.
Week 3:
We will review the stitches needed to finish the tote including the strap, and how to finish a project. We will also go over how to add embellishment to your projects like appliques or beads.
Workshop Materials
Yarn Skeins: 100% Cotton, Weight 4 (Medium), 285 yds total
Examples: Lily Sugar’n Cream Yarn: Solids or Ombres 3 balls, or Loops & Threads Classic Cotton: Solid or Ombres 3 balls
Any yarn for appliques or beads to embellish
Size 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) crochet hook
Ruler or measuring tape
Scissors
Plastic coated paperclips or stitch markers
Needle with a large eye
